Cayemberg’s Hat Trick Lifts the Blizzard

The Brookings Blizzard had to fight off a late surge from the Coulee Region Chill but were able to hold on for a 5-4 victory Saturday night at the Omni Center in Onalaska, WI in front of a crowd of 563. 

Tyler Cayemberg had a huge game for the Blizzard, scoring the game winning goal with 52 seconds to play in the game, one of three scored in the game.  Eric Brenk and Drew Brevig assisted Cayemberg on two of the goals, while Evan Hesse and Spencer Peratalo assisted on the third helping Cayemberg record the hat trick.

Jared Docken opened the scoring with 8 seconds left in the first period to put the Blizzard up 1-0. Eetu Karvinen and Aidan Cavallini got the assists. 

In the second period, Cavallini got a goal of his own at the 5:28 mark, assisted by Nick DeCenzo and Docken. Cayemberg’s first goal put the Blizzard up 3-0 at the midway point of the period.

The Chill answered by scoring two goals in the last five minutes of the period. Adam Lovick scored an unassisted goal and Garrett Hendrickson scored one on a power play with less than a minute on the clock.

In the third period, Cayemberg scored his second goal but Coulee Region quickly responded by scoring back-to-back goal by Eddie Matsushima and Lovick. 

With the game tied 4-4, both teams battled hard but the Cayemberg was able to burry the game winner in the last minute. 

The Blizzard out shot the Chill 47 to 32. Chase Wilson got the win for the Blizzard in net stopping 28 of 32 shots. 

With two wins over the weekend, the Blizzard are now in third place in the Central Division with 48 points. Austin remains in first place, followed by the Bismarck Bobcats with 51 points.

The Blizzard are back in action next Friday night at 7:00pm in the last home game against the Austin Bruins this season.
